When our root chakra is blocked it can cause a lot of turbulent feelings. Since it is what’s known as our “base chakra”, when unbalanced it can put our entire system off.

If you suffer from feelings like fear, anxiety, doubt and insecurity then your root chakra may need a little bit of TLC. And thankfully, there’s a few things you can do to restore balance to the root chakra, including practicing root chakra affirmations.

Root Chakra Meaning and Location

The root chakra is the first of the seven primary chakras and lies at the base of the spine around the perineum. It is associated with the colour red and so incorporating more of the colour red into your own life is good for root chakra balance.

The root chakra is associated with basic needs, a sense of safety and security, groundedness and a stable foundation.

When in balance we feel safe or “at home” in the world and our basic needs feel satisfied. But what about when our root chakra is out of balance?

Root Chakra Imbalance Symptoms

Before we get into our root chakra healing affirmations, let’s look at some ways that we can spot an out of balance root chakra.

When we have a root chakra imbalance, either underactive or overactive, we may exhibit symptoms in the areas associated with the chakra.

Spotting these symptoms is the first step in acknowledging a root chakra imbalance and taking steps to restore balance and blockages.

Some examples of root chakra imbalance symptoms include:

  • A lack of focus
  • Co-dependency
  • Restlessless
  • Feeling abandoned
  • Anxiety
  • Fearfulness
  • Insecurity
  • Excessive negativity or cynicism

If you’ve been experiencing a collective of these signs then this might point to a root chakra imbalance in your own life.

However, it’s important to note that some of these symptoms may also be associated with other conditions and it’s best to consult with a holistic practitioner to determine if what you’re going through is better explained by something else first!

​Now that you know what to look out for, you might have determined that you have a root chakra imbalance that needs addressing in your own life.

And thankfully, with a little work you can restore balance to the first chakra and gain relief from what you’ve been experiencing. One way that you can do this is by using root chakra healing affirmations.

Root chakra affirmations can be a powerful tool for unblocking the first chakra, and they’re easy to incorporate into your daily routine too. 

You might try incorporating these root chakra mantras into your meditation by repeating them in your mindspace, or you can repeat them out loud as part of your morning routine.

You may also wish to write them in your journal to further reinforce them! Just remember, they are best used daily for the best results.

And there you have it, those are 20 of my favourite root chakra affirmations for grounding and restoring balance to the first chakra.

Remember, consistency is key, so pick around three affirmations to use on a daily basis and really try to feel and tune into the energy of the words that you’re saying.

After a while you’ll begin to notice that the words feel more and more true when you’re saying them, and this is where the real healing begins!
