We’ve all had those moments when NOTHING seems to be going right and we are perfectly content in feeling sorry for ourselves, convinced that the universe is out to get us. And what could be more annoying in those moments than a happy-go-lucky new age telling you to “just stay positive, man”? But there may be more to that annoying advice than you think, thanks to the Law of Attraction.
What is the Law of Attraction?
The Law of Attraction is one of twelve universal laws that govern the universe. It describes our ability to attract into our lives whatever we focus on.
To understand the Law of Attraction it is first helpful to understand the Law of Vibration – simply put, everything in the universe is in a constant state of vibration, vibrating at its own individual frequency. Our perceptions of the things around us and our own experiences are therefore reliant on our brain translating these vibrations. So it is effectively our brain that creates our reality, not our experiences themselves.
This is a widely accepted notion. But what some people may struggle to accept is that our thoughts and emotions are no different, and they too vibrate at their own frequency. Therefore, if we and our thoughts vibrate at a low frequency (negative), we are likely to attract things of a similar frequency. In other words, if we think negative thoughts we will attract negative things. It is pretty easy to understand this concept if you think of the universe like a magnet – like attracts like.
How can I use the Law of Attraction?
The Law of Attraction can be a challenging idea because it is often easier to sit uncomfortably as victims than it is to take control of our own futures; let this empower you instead! In order to bring our desires to life, we need to vibrate at a level that is consistent with our desired reality. Believe to achieve!
Thinking positive thoughts is one thing, but believing them is another. A key factor in materialising our thoughts into reality is to feel our desires as if they have already happened. Take part in visualisation exercises where you can really imagine what life would be like and how you would feel if your wishes were to come true. This can prepare you to receive whatever you are trying to attract. One of my favourite ways to do this is to write affirmations in a journal as if events have already occurred – try using strong statements beginning with “I am” as if you are certain of your fate! You can also try writing your affirmations during the new moon as this is a period when the universe is preparing for change to occur.

Is this legit?
Skeptics might be reluctant to believe in the Law of Attraction because we can’t see it in action, but there are plenty of testimonials stating the positive effects of working with it. Previous scientific studies have even shown that meditating on positive thoughts can reduce crime rates!
Believe what you will, but rest assured that there are no consequences of thinking positively!
